The Shadow over Sumida
Looking down from far overhead, the expanse of Sumida City. A cross section of the city is caught in the shadow of the massive Tokyo Skytree.
This photo was captured on Floor 450 (the name given to the floor at the 450m mark) of Tokyo Skytree. On a sunny day, the tower casts an intense shadow down on the city half a kilometre below. In black and white, the cross-hatch streets and alleyways of Tokyo create a grid on which the rest of Sumida City is built. The 3 dimensionality of the grid furthermore draws the eye to the enormous footprint the Skytree makes catching tens of thousands of people in it's shade at a time.
